Wildlife

INSECTS PAGE | FLORA PAGE

The area is good for all kinds of wildlife, not only birds. Banstead Woods is particularly rich in diversity with hotspots such as Fames Rough warranting special attention. Our group has recorded plants for many years and, so far, we have recorded 324 species including several national rarities such as Cut-Leaf Germander and Ground Pine as well as eight orchid species. Canons Farm has uncommon toothwort and two species of orchids have been recorded. A full list can be viewed via link at the top of the page. Our area also has a large variety of invertebrates. Although none of our group are experts, we have managed to record over 290 species of insects, most of which occur at Canons Farm. A list of insects yjat we have identified at Canons Farm is available via the link at the top of this page.
